Lets take original price as $100 & discount % given is X%.
discounting price = x% means price = 100-x%
Therefore, 100 * (100-x / 100) * (100-x / 100) = 36 % of 100
(100-x)^2 = 3600
(100-x) = sqrt of 3600
100-x = 60
x = 40
