Switching to GRE after 5 GMAT attempts [#permalink]
Thanks bb!
I'm targeting Canadian b-schools : Rotman, Ivey, McGill and UBC.
Main motivation is to settle with a PR as I'm an Indian and attending US b-schools on a 3 year OPT (and extended uncertainty) is not something I would want to deal with.
Let me know your opinions on this.

If you are planning to change the examination you want to target for future studies you will have to look at two different aspects. One of the main things would be finding out a different pattern for different test papers. For example, there is not much difference between GRE and GMAT but you will have to change the way you used to prepare. For most people, this does not come easy as they do not have the mental strength. But if you think you have what it takes and GMAT is absolutely not for you then changing it to GRE may be a sound choice.

I have heard from a number of people that Canadian PR is much easier to apply and get than the US Green card or H1B. I have even heard of a number of folks who did not get their H1B extended for some reason move to Canada and apply for a work permit/PR there. However, I don't know much details per se.

I think the 3-year OPT is a pretty powerful tool that provides plenty of flexibility and the immigration policy is most likely only to improve under the Dem president though there are going to be changes in 2023 after the Nov 2022 elections when many expect the congress and senate to become under the republican control, though some of the things such as allocations/etc seem to be controlled by the president orders directly rather than congress.

But this is 2-3 years out and no guarantee how things will turn out. Also, there is a meaningful difference between the US and Canada and employment focus. Canadian employers tend to focus more on work experience and value the MBA less. Thus I can see getting a masters perhaps instead of an MBA as a better and cheaper move though not sure if that will have the same personal impact and influence... but if you are looking to be in Finance or IT or Analytics, I can see doing a 1-year masters in Canada instead (again, I am no immigration expert so not sure if there is a difference for that).
