The question says that the lines are parallel and congruent, which means that they have the same lenght and orientation on the plane. However, we don´t know if they begin and end on the same point. Thus, the lines together may look like this:
A__________B
C__________D
Or some other form to represent that the lines do not begin and end in the same coordinate.
Then, in the first case, we have
A____M____B
C__________D
And M the distance from C to M and D to M is the same.
However, in the secon case this cannot be true. Since are uncertaint abou this, we can surely check D.
