The ratio of the number of males to the number of females in mathematics class is 4 to 5. The corresponding ratio in an English class is 5 to 4. There are 50 percent more males in the English class than there are in the mathematics class. What is the ratio of the number of females in the mathematics class to the number of females in the English class?
(a) 2 to 3
(b) 24 to 25
(c) 1 to 1
(d) 25 to 24
(e) 3 to 2
Thank you.
Let the m:f in mathematics class be 4x:5x and that in English class be 5y:4y
Given that \(\frac{5y-4x}{4x}=0.5.....5y-4x=2x.....5y=6x....y=6x/5\)
Ratio of f in mathematics to English is 5x:4y or 5x:4*6x/5=25x:24x=25:24
D
Hope it helps
