Poor GRE Problem Recognition

Hey, I'm new to the forum.
I just had a question, there are so many different types of GRE problems, it seems hopeless to find one strategy for each content area so when I study, I just end up applying a different strategy on each question.
EVERY single GRE problem I encounter seems novel, like I've never studied for that type of question previously. Is the GRE a test for which it is possible to find some common methodology to solve EACH TYPE of GRE problem?
How do I find strategies when each quant question looks different?
I appreciate any help.

Hi and welcome home.
This is just a perception but is not the reality back up by the actual exam.
The GRE, the GMAT as weel or LSAT test just few concepts. It is the way they formulate the question that tricks you to think is always a different problem.
But, indeed it is not.
It is up to you how and when to manipulate the problem to see what of those few rules you have to use.
It is like a mechanic: we do have millions of car models, even the most sophisticated, but the tool to fix them once broken is always the same: the cars all have a cooling implant, the motorhead, and so forth under the hood. So basically, they are the same thing in different variations.
