The child ate 1 less apple than 25% of the total 28 apples.
28*0.25 = 7. Thus 7-1 = 6.
He ate 6 apples ie option A, which is less than option B.
Thus B is correct.

it is easier not to use the calculator. Instead you should see that 10% of 28 is 2.8, then 5% is 1.4 therefore the 25% od 28 is equal to 2.8*2+1.4 = 7. Then 7-1 =6 (Quantity A)
