Two cars started from the same point and traveled on a straight course in opposite directions for exactly three hours, at which time they were 330 miles apart. If one car traveled, on average, 10 miles per hour faster than the other car, what was the average speed of the slower car for the three-hour trip?

Total distance traveled = 330 miles
Total time = 3 hrs
110 km in 1 hr traveled by both car together.
The cars are in opposite direction so the speed will be added.
Relative speed = A + B (A=car 1 & B=car 2)
in 1 hr distance will be A + B = 110
It is given that ( one car traveled, on average, 10 miles per hour faster than the other car ) so B = A + 10
A + A + 10 = 110
A = 50 & B = 60
Answer 50
Total time = 3 hrs

As they are moving away from the point in opposite direction. so, we add there speed .
330=X+(X+10) x3
300/3 =X+(X+10)
110=X+X+10
110-10=2X
100=2X
X=50
Answer is 50
