Blank (i) Blank (ii)
departures from controversial
basis for innovative
bias from pervasive

QA : Basis for ,pervasive (which can mean prevalent , or most believed)

I would say innovative is the coolest trap option, we would highly jump for the option D. However, the sentence never mentions anything about if it was innovative among us.

Blank (i) it should be (b) basis for.
The other options a and c will not give the opposite for the previews claim.

Blank (ii) it should be pervasive which means everywhere. it mentions that virtually all believe something.
controversial ==> there is no agreement
innovative ==> new and does not make sense in this content
