Hi
takeanotice,
Yes its possible to improve your score in Verbal, ask yourself few questions :
1) How much time you have in hand for the improvement (aiming for +5/6 in Verbal ?? if it worth 200$ ??) . Can you give another 6 months with studying 2-3 hours per day ? If yes start with strengthening your English Grammar concepts . Read books, improve your vocabulary. And track your progress, also this will help you in GRE as well as in your day to day life. You will notice improvement in your day to day usage of English once you strengthen your English Grammar knowledge. Which will definitely help you further for your MS/PhD and later in life too.
2) How much score you need for the field you applying for ? Check the college websites and previous admit details ? GRE is not the only criteria for admit - GPA, SOP, LOR and Work EX matter more. If you thinking that scoring 320 or 330 + will definitely get you into your dream college then i am sorry you are wrong. High GRE score alone cannot guarantee an admit in dream colleges.
3) Are you expecting 160-165 score in Verbal , then again i am sorry but it will be tough (Not impossible..!!!) We all want best score but not all can achieve 160-165 range in verbal, but we need to understand that - main root cause for low Verbal score amongst non native English students is Basic knowledge and concept about English Grammar and English sentence formations and structures. Which is tough to learn within 1 to 2 months of time period. This process of strengthening English Grammar and English structure will take time and gradually your English will improve. It cannot be done overnight.
Note : I am no expert ,all the above suggestions are my personnel suggestions and opinion , i am in the same boat as you - struggled with verbal score . I gave GRE in Oct'21 scored 161Q and 145V , i have started with my application process with this score , cannot afford another retest also do not have enough time to improve verbal score any further.
Thanks
