If the cards add to 8, that gives us these possibilities (remember that choosing (a,b) will be distinct from choosing (b,a)):
2,6 and 6,2
3,5 and 5,3
4,4
That's five different possibilities that sum to 8, of which two contain a 5.
Therefore the probability is 2/5 or answer A.
