Here, When x divided by 2 yields remainder 1, then the number x must be odd. since the x= multiple of 2 + 1
so x is odd.
Similarly,
For y to yield remainder 2 when divided by 8, y = multiple of 8 + 2. That is y is even.
so 2x+y= even as 2*(odd)+even = even.
So, eliminate odd answer.
and numbers other than 10 do not yield remainder 2 when divided by 8.
So answer is 10.
so x is odd.
Similarly,
For y to yield remainder 2 when divided by 8, y = multiple of 8 + 2. That is y is even.
so 2x+y= even as 2*(odd)+even = even.
So, eliminate odd answer.
