Similarly, the length and width of rectangle Q are 40 percent greater and 40 percent less, respectively, than those of rectangle P, so the length and width of rectangle Q equal (1 + 0.4)x = 1.4X and (1 - 0.4)y = 0.6y. Thus, the area of rectangle Q is (i.4x)(0.6y) = 0.84xy.

Quantity P : 0.7 L * 1.2 B = 0.84 LB
Quantity Q : 1.4L * 0.6 B = 0.84 LB , we take the unit 1 and reduce or increase as per question . if it is 30% more , it becomes 1.3 times the quantity however 30% less will make it 0.7 times the quantity. simple dollar equations , I add 30 cents to make 1 dollar 30 cents and take 30 cents to make it 70 cents .
