The average (arithmetic mean) of x, y, and 12 is 8.
(x + y + 12) / 3 = 8
Multiply both sides by 3:
x + y + 12 = 24
Subtract 12 from both sides:
x + y = 12
Now find the average of x and y:
(x + y) / 2 = 12 / 2 = 6
Answer: B
So, Quantity A = 6 and Quantity B = 8.
Since 6 < 8, the answer is B.
(x + y + 12) / 3 = 8
