If x > 0, which of the following expressions are equal to 3.6 percent of \(\frac{5x}{12}\) ?

A. 3 percent of 20x

B. x percent of \(\frac{3}{2}\)

C. 3x percent of 0.2

D. 0.05 percent of 3x

E. \(\frac{3x}{200}\)

Show: :: OA
B, and E

3.6 percent of \(\frac{5x}{12}=\frac{3.6}{100}\times\frac{5x}{12}=\frac{18x}{1200}=\frac{3x}{200}\)

Now check the answer choices to see which one evaluate to be \(\frac{3x}{200}\)

A. 3 percent of 20x = \(\frac{3}{100}\times20x=\frac{60x}{100}=\frac{3x}{5}\)
NOPE!

B. x percent of \(\frac{3}{2}\) = \(\frac{x}{100}\times\frac{3}{2}=\frac{3x}{200}\)
PERFECT

C. 3x percent of 0.2 = \(\frac{3x}{100}\times\frac{2}{10}=\frac{6x}{1000}=\frac{3x}{500}\)
NOPE!

D. 0.05 percent of 3x = \(\frac{0.05}{100}\times3x=\frac{5}{10,000}\times3x=\frac{15x}{10,000}=\frac{3x}{2000}\)
NOPE!

E. \(\frac{3x}{200}\)
PERFECT

Answer: B & E

3.6% of \(\frac{5x}{12}=(\frac{3.6}{100})(\frac{5x}{12})\)

\(=\frac{18x}{1200}\)

\(=\frac{3x}{200}\)

Now check the answer choices.....

A)3 percent of 20x \(= (\frac{3}{100})(20x) = \frac{60x}{100} = \frac{3x}{5} \)
NO GOOD.

B)x percent of 3/2 \(= (\frac{x}{100})(\frac{3}{2}) = \frac{3x}{200}\)
PERFECT!

C)3x percent of 0.2 \(= (\frac{3x}{100})(\frac{1}{5}) = \frac{3x}{500}\)
NO GOOD.

D)0.05 percent of 3x
\(= (\frac{0.05}{100})(3x) = (\frac{5}{10000})(3x)=\frac{15x}{10000}=\frac{3x}{2000}\)
NO GOOD.

E)\(\frac{3x}{200}\)
PERFECT!

Answer: B, E
