Given the equation v + w - 4 = x + y - 5, we are asked to compare the arithmetic mean of v+w and x+y.
To start, let's divide the equation by two to see what it yields:
(v+w)/2 - 2 = (x+y)/2 - (5/2)
Now let's move the variables to the left hand side and the numbers to the right:
(v+w)/2 - (x+y)/2 = 2- (5/2)
Notice that (v+w)/2 = QA and (x+y)/2 = QB.
Thus:
QA - QB = -1/2
In other words, QA subtracted from QB results in a negative number and from here we can infer that QA < QB ------> Answer Choice B
