What kind of tone will be extremely difficult to endure? Bitter tone. Options that fits bitter is Acerbic and caustic.

B and D are the only possible choices but how can an acerbic or caustic tone be severe?

Shouldn't the sentence read 'After returning home from a day filled with misfortune, Kate found the severity in her father’s __________ tone extremely difficult to endure.'?

Also, can 'garrulous' be used with 'tone'?

since we need 2 very negative words here we use acerbic and caustic
meaning- harsh/sharp

When she got back home not only she had a terrible day but she also needed to listen at her dad's reproach

And this dad's attitude was harsh and unpleasant.

The only words suitable for this context are B and D

A. melodious = good sound = no good
B. acerbic = good
C. unctuous = greasy= no good
D. caustic = good
E. garrulous = verbose = no good
F. sonorous = deep sound = no good
