I thought the first blank would be something on the lines of "unformed" and then the second blank would be "formed", because the first blank illustrates the young peoples' current, less developed sensitivities, compared to adults, whose sensitivities have matured.

Hi Cindy,
When you select the 2nd blank as Calloused (emotionally hardened), native and sophisticated are not compatible with this. Hence, Keen will be the choice.
On the other hand, keen people would make immediate response rather than native and sophisticated people.
