We first determine the value of f(1).
We take the x-axis value of 1, go up until it touches the curve, go left and take the y-axis value of 4. (red line in the figure)
So f(f(1)) = f(4)
We take the x-axis value of 4, go up until it touches the curve, go left and take the y-axis value of 5. (orange line in the figure)
Answer = 5

f(1) = 4
So, f[f(1)] = f[4] = 5
