Wanda Leaves the office and travels north at 30 MPH for 2 hours, then stops for 2 hours. Jeff Leaves the office and travels east at 36 MPH for 4 hours, then stops. At this point they both turn and travel directly towards one another at their previous rates of speed. Once they meet, what is the average combined speed of Jeff and Wanda?

Essentially based on the information in the stem we do have a right triangle
Finding the legs means finding the distance that both Wanda (w) and Jeff (J) traveled.You get:
w= 30mph • 2hr = 60mi
j = 36mph • 4hr = 144mi
Using the Pythagorean Theorem
60^2+144^2=c^2
Solve
c=156
Jeff and Wanda are 156 miles away after 4 hours
speed of wanda +speed of jeff = distance traveled
30mph+36mph=156 miles
t=156/66=2.36 hours
Now, the total distance is 60+144+156=360 miles
Total time =4+2.36=6.36 hours
The average speed is 360 miles/6.36=56.6 miles per hour
