ROI for studying and retaking the GRE? 164V 163Q

Good evening,
I am 34 and recently completed an undergrad degree to try to get more opportunities in the workplace. I have been working in my field since 2008 and am in middle management but cannot break in to the next level up. I finished an undergrad (BBA-Econ) at a state school this spring. My Bachelors degree is not providing new opportunities in our local down economy.
I took the GRE to see where I compare to other students and to see if I could score high enough to drum up scholarship support for a distance MBA or applied economics program.
I did not study, I was surprised to see that there was a writing section on the test but I think performed OK on it, I took the exam today and will not know the writing results for a couple weeks.
What is the difference in the eyes of an admissions officer between a 164 / 163 and maybe with studying higher quant scores? Math is my strong suit, I failed on questions that required formulas for areas of hexagons and other things that I have not thought about in years? I can maybe get my quant score up closer to 170 on a retake?
Is it worth the time investment and additional cost? Do recruiters / financial aid officers care about the difference between the 90th percentile and 99th?
Thanks all,
