Hello all,
I took the GRE today and scored 325 (Q-160 V-165). Despite it being a decent score I am quite disappointed by my Quant performance. I spent about 1.5 months studying for it, after having taken the GMAT twice already (and bombing it both times). The switch to the GRE was motivated by the absurd online whiteboard thing that the GMAT has going on.
I used the following material for prep:
Manhattan 5lb for quant
ETS OG and Superpack
GRE Big book (did the Verbal bits and the hard Quant bits) - Shout out to gregmat for this recommendation. His video walkthroughs for the big book really helped my RC performance.
I took a whole bunch of practice tests in test conditions (essays + 4 sections). I scored the following:
ETS Paper Based Test 1 - Q162 V160
Manhattan free - Q164 V159
ETS Powerprep 2 - Q164 V160
ETS Paper Based Test 2 - Q159 V160
ETS Powerprep plus 3 - Q163 V164
ETS Powerprep 1 - Q170 V165 (the final test and motivator to take the actual thing today)
Today - Q160 V165 (VQVQV section order)
My quant score is all over the place, probably indicating some deficiencies that are being exposed on test day. Also, the hard section of Quant was undoubtedly harder than anything I have seen earlier, especially in Geometry. Looks of weird stuff went on in that section - I thought it was experimental!
I need to up my Quant score as I want to apply to the INSEAD MBA and the adcom recommends at least 80%ile in each section (corresponding to ~161-162 on Quant)
Any thoughts and suggestions on how to improve quant are more than welcome.
I will also be happy to answer any questions you guys might have.
