Let’s see….
The Content -The Verbal Reasoning section consists of two broad question types – Reading Comprehension and Vocabulary-based questions. Every Verbal section of 20 questions and out of those 10 are from Reading Comprehension (RC),4 to 6 passages of varying lengths drawn from a wide array of subjects like Social Science, Humanities, Drama, Philosophy, Music, Art, Sculpture, Economics, Business, History, and Natural Science with 1 to 4 questions per passage.
The vocab-based part has again 10 questions divided into Sentence Equivalence and Text Completion questions where one is required to decode an argument, analyze the relationship between the different parts of the sentence or between the sentences and assimilate them into a coherent meaningful sentence by filling the blanks with the exact words.
Well, that looks manageable. Right! Only had the passages been drawn from daily reads, the arguments less convoluted, a smaller word list rather than an exhaustive one that one has to get acquainted with and familiarize their usage to such an extent that he or she has to hit the correct answer every time on the date of the exam.
Now let’s check the Time Management. GRE is all about being accurate and racing against that CLOCK that seems to click somewhat faster on the exam date. For each section, you get 20 questions to be solved in 30 minutes flat. NOW remember you have ten questions from 4-6 passages drawn from an array of topics and ten from 10 arguments with gaps to be filled with words that are drawn from a mammoth word list. Well, the ordeal can get worse, ya I mean it if you have 3 instead of 2 Vocab sections and since one doesn’t know which one of them is experimental, you have to be on your toes till the END. One needs to be 100% ACCURATE and Beat the CLOCK.
ALL ASKING FOR NOTHING SHORT OF A PHENOMENAL MASTER BLASTER PERFORMANCE…
NO STROKE OF LUCK Comes Handy…BUT JUST an exceptional Quality prep. One has to exhibit amazing grit and mental agility coupled with a Lightning pace to ACE this TRAP LAIDEN Verbal Section of the EXAM.
