CC = Chocolate Candy
The price of a vanilla candy is $x less than twice the cost of a chocolate candy.
VC = 2CC - X --- (1)
Their combined cost is less than the cost of 3 vanilla candies.
VC + CC < 3VC --- (2)
substituting (1) in (2)
2CC - X + CC < 3VC
3CC - X < 3VC
3CC - 3VC < X
3CC - 3(2CC - X) < X
3CC - 6CC + 3X < X
-3CC + 3X < X
-3CC < X - 3X
-3CC < -2X
multiplying throughout by - 1
3CC > 2X
Since Quantity B is (8/3)X, we divide throughout by 3/4 to get
3CC/(3/4) > 2X/(3/4)
4CC > 8/3X

assume cost of 1 vanilla candy as Cv and cost of 1 chocolate candy as Cc
1 vanilla candy is $x less than 2 times times the cost of chocolate candy
so Cv = 2Cc - x --- 1
cost of 3 vanilla candies is greater than cost of 1 vanilla candy and 1 chocolate candy
3Cv > Cc + Cv
2Cv > Cc ---2
put equation 1 in equation 2, we get
4Cc -2x > Cc
3Cc > 2x
divide by 3 and multiply by 4
we get 4Cc > (8/3) x
option A is the right answer
