The area of a trapezoid = 1/2 * (top base + bottom base) *(height)
= \(1/2 * (6+2) * 3 = 12\)
The area of the rectangle
= \(2x * 3x = 6x^2\)
Since the area of the trapezoid is twice that of the rectangle,
\(2 * 6x^2 = 12\)
\(12x^2 = 12\)
\(x^2 = 1\)
\(x = 1\) (It wouldn't be -1 since the sides wouldn't be negative.)
= \(1/2 * (6+2) * 3 = 12\)
The area of the rectangle
= \(2x * 3x = 6x^2\)
Since the area of the trapezoid is twice that of the rectangle,
\(2 * 6x^2 = 12\)
\(12x^2 = 12\)
\(x^2 = 1\)
\(x = 1\) (It wouldn't be -1 since the sides wouldn't be negative.)
