The key here is to avoid making any assumptions about the precise values of x and y. All we know for certain, is that \(-1 < x < 0\) and \(0 < y < 1\)
Okay giving all of this, let's first simplify things by using the strategy of matching operations
Quantity A: \(- \frac{x-3}{4}\)
Quantity B: \(y\)
Multiply both quantities by \(4\) to get: Quantity A: \(- (x-3)\) Quantity B: \(4y\)
Simplify Quantity A to get: Quantity A: \(3-x\) Quantity B: \(4y\)
From here, let's test some values.
