The length of the square is same as the diameter of the circle which is inscribed in it.
It is clear from the figure that the sum of $\(x\)$ and $\(y\)$ is less than the diameter of the circle, so is less than the length of the side of the square. So, we get $\(x+y<10\)$ i.e. $\(\frac{x+y}{2}<\frac{10}{2}=5\)$
Hence column $\(B\)$ has higher quantity when compared with column $\(A\)$, so the answer is (B).

how can we be sure that X and Y cannot be meet at the diagonal position?
