The first equation can be expressed as the quadratic:
x^2–5x=6 => x^2 -5x -6 = 0 => (x-6)(x+1) = 0
Thus potential x values are x=6 and x=-1
Then the second equation:
–y^2 + 3y = 9y + 9 => y^2 + 6y +9 = 0 (this is a type of square of a sum a^2 + 2ab + b^2 ) => (y+3)^2 = 0
Thus the equation has two y solutions, both of which y=-3
Thus either x=-1 or x=6 are is larger than y=-3 (Answer A)
x^2–5x=6 => x^2 -5x -6 = 0 => (x-6)(x+1) = 0
