The left hand side is of the form (a+b)(a-b)
So we know it's equal to a^2 - b^2.
Applying this with a=x and b=3y, this gives (x)^2 - (3y)^2=x^2 - 9y^2
So we have quantity A = quantity B.
So we know it's equal to a^2 - b^2.
Applying this with a=x and b=3y, this gives (x)^2 - (3y)^2=x^2 - 9y^2
So we have quantity A = quantity B.
