To make it easier to follow the solution, let's arrange our two equations as follows:
a + 3b = 23
4a + b = 22
If we subtract the bottom equation from the top equation we get: (a + 3b) - (4a + b) = 23 - 22
Simplify: -3a + 2b = 1
So we have:
QUANTITY A: -3a+2b = 1
QUANTITY B: 0
