If \(r = 2\), then we get:
QUANTITY A: \(r^5 = 2^5 = 32\)

In this case, the two quantities are equal.
If \(r = -2\), then we get:
QUANTITY A: \(r^5 = (-2)^5 = -32\)
QUANTITY B: \(32\)
In this case, the two quantities are NOT equal.
