STRATEGY: When I encounter a Quantitative Comparison question featuring algebraic expressions, I immediately look for any obvious values that would make the two quantities equal (I call the strategy "Looking for Equality")

For this question, I can see that, if \(a = 1\), then Quantity A = Quantity B
At this point, I know the correct answer is either C or D.

Let's test another a-value
If \(a = 2\), then Quantity A ≠ Quantity B

Answer: D

Shouldn't the answer be D? The two quantities will be equal when a = 1.

You're absolutely right.
