The difference between A and B is 42. So far so good.

The question asks for the range, that is, the difference between two values on the extreme of the range or set of numbers we are considering

Considering that our value is 42 it is basically inside a range. therefore the range of weights in set X could be more or less or around 42. for example: 50 and 35, 60 and 24 and so on

But what is important for is not only the range where the key value of the reference is 42 but also the SD from 42. And because we do know that SD of the bags in set X is 8, dividing 42 by 8 we do have the SD of the bags in set X not in terms of pounds (which is 8) but in terms of range which is 5.25

This range does not tell us for sure if 42 is > or < B because it is true that every bag in the set is 90 but the SD is 8 which is per see a range. 90+8 but could be also 90+0.1
