The approach above by rx10 is the fastest.

Here we do not have any shortcut. At least I do not see it.

If you take a look to the two quantities it is just a matter of multiplication and addition.

Sometimes we have a shortcut (usually) sometimes no, sometimes a question is just trial and error. It depends

Probably the way of NOT to solve a question on the GRE is never via brute force. You would spend tons of time
