SInce no information is given for a and b, we cannot determine which QTY is greater or less.
Therefore option D

Let's use the technique of matching operations
Given:
Quantity A: (a + 1)(b + 1)
Quantity B: ab + 1
Use the FOIL method to expand Quantity A:
Quantity A: ab + a + b + 1
Quantity B: ab + 1
Subtract ab from both quantities:
Quantity A: a + b + 1
Quantity B: 1
Subtract 1 from both quantities:
Quantity A: a + b
Quantity B: 0
Since there is no information about a and b, the variables can have ANY value
For instance...
Case i: a = 1 and b = 1
We get:
Quantity A: 1 + 1
Quantity B: 0
In this case, Quantity A is greater
Case ii: a = -1 and b = -1
We get:
Quantity A: (-1) + (-1)
Quantity B: 0
In this case, Quantity B is greater
