Let's try with a square whose area is 25, thus having a side of 5. Then, if the area is doubled, it will become equal to 50 and its side equal to \(\sqrt50 = 5\sqrt2\).
Then, the increase in the side length is equal to \(\frac{5\sqrt2-5}{5}*100 = 41%\), thus 50% is greater.
