\(3x - 4y = -12\) <--- Start with the 1st equation
\(+2(6x + 2y = 36) \) <--- Add 2x the 2nd equation to eliminate the -4y in the 1st equation
\(3x + 12x - 4y + 4y = -12 + 72\)
\(15x = 60\)
\(x = 4\)
Plug x = 4 back into either of the equations to find y.
\(6(4) + 2y = 36\)
\(2y = 12\)
\(y = 6\)
Since 6 > 4, Quantity B is greater.
\(+2(6x + 2y = 36) \) <--- Add 2x the 2nd equation to eliminate the -4y in the 1st equation
\(3x + 12x - 4y + 4y = -12 + 72\)
\(15x = 60\)
\(x = 4\)
Plug x = 4 back into either of the equations to find y.
\(6(4) + 2y = 36\)
\(2y = 12\)
