Total distance travelled in the trip = (3 x 55 + 5 x 65) miles = (165 + 325) miles = 490 miles
Total time taken to travel the distance = 8 hours
Average rate, in miles per hour = 490/8 miles per hour = 61.25 miles per hour
C is the correct answer.
