When we add or subtract fractions, we have to keep the denominator the same and only add or subtract the numerators. When we do that operation in reverse, we can break our single fraction into two smaller fractions:
\(\frac{1-x}{xy} = \frac{1}{xy} - \frac{x}{xy}\)
Now, since we have an x in the numerator and denominator of the second fraction, we can cancel those out:
\(\frac{1}{xy} - \frac{1}{y}\)
\(\frac{1-x}{xy} = \frac{1}{xy} - \frac{x}{xy}\)
Now, since we have an x in the numerator and denominator of the second fraction, we can cancel those out:
\(\frac{1}{xy} - \frac{1}{y}\)
