then you have (y+p)/2=4x
cross multiply and you have y+p=8x
subtract y to isolate p
p=8x-y
The answer is E

Theory: Average = \(\frac{Sum Of All The Values}{Total Number Of Values}\)
The average (arithmetic mean) of two numbers is 4x. If one of the numbers is y
Let other number be z
=> Sum of numbers = y + z
Total number of numbers = 2
=> Average = \(\frac{Sum Of All The Values}{Total Number Of Values}\) = \(\frac{y+z}{2}\)
=> 4x = \(\frac{y+z}{2}\)
=> y + z = 4x*2 = 8x
=> z = 8x - y
So, answer will be E
