In the rectangle above, AB = x feet, BC = y feet, and AE = FC = 2 feet. What is the area of triangle DEF, in square feet?
A. \(\frac{xy}{2} + 2 \)

\)

Area of the triangle: 1/2 * length * height --> since it is a rectangle, vertix ADC is a right angle, hence DE is the height
--> 1/2 * (x-2) * (y-2) = 1/2 *xy -x -y +2 --> C is the right answer
--> 1/2 * (x-2) * (y-2) = 1/2 *xy -x -y +2 --> C is the right answer
