Here,
Let the total employees in the year 1980 = X
There is a decline of 700 employees per year, i.e 2800 employees declined from 1980 to 1984
Hence, we can write the equation as:
X - 2800 = 0.8X
or X = 14000 employees in 1980.
in 1984 no. of employees = 14000 - 2800 = 11,200
