Putting the conditions into the equation will look as shown below
Diff between 2 points on a number line = positive diff between them
(4+root(5)) - (2 - root(5))
4-2 +root(5) + root(5) ==> (negative,negative sign multiplication will give positive sign)
2 + 2root(5)
Hence, Option B is the Answer.

This problem is easy. However, usually the student use the formula to calculate the distance
You just need to make the difference between the two points
\(4 + \sqrt{5}\)
- \((2-\sqrt{5})\)
\(4 +\sqrt{5} - 2 +\sqrt{5 }\)
\(2 + 2 \sqrt{5}
\)
B is the answer
You just need to make the difference between the two points
