Y and Z are angles on a straight line hence,
y+z = 180
we are also given y-z = 60
adding the two eqn we get,
2y = 240
or, y = 120
angle Y and angle s are vertically opposite therefore,
y=s=120
Given l and m are parallel lines angle s = angle x because they are alternate angles
hence x =120
y+z = 180
we are also given y-z = 60
adding the two eqn we get,
2y = 240
or, y = 120

Key concept: When a line (aka transversal) intersects two parallel lines, we get the following equal angles:
So, from the given diagram....
....we can see that x = y
So, let's find the value of y
Does angles on a line add to 180 degrees, we can conclude that y + z = 180
We are also told that y – z = 60
When we ADD these two equations together we get: 2y = 240
Divide both sides by 2 to get: y = 120
Since we already concluded that x = y, we can now say x = 120
Answer: D
