Let's make sure we understand what this [] symbol means.
Here are a few examples:
[3.1] = 3
[5.8] = 5
[0.7] = 0
[-0.9] = -1
[-4.6] = -5
--------------------------
So, [-0.5] = -1 and [2.5] = 2
So, f(-0.5) = |-0.5| + [-0.5]
= 0.5 + (-1)
And f(2.5) = |2.5| + [2.5]
= 2.5 + 2
This means: f(-0.5) + f(2.5) = [0.5 + (-1)] + [2.5 + 2] = 4
Answer: D
