how do you know if you can repeat the numbers or not?....how do you know you cant use 22, or 44, etc.????? it does not specify, furthermore, it doesn't specify you can use 2 in two numbers....24,26, 29, etc…in my mind if you can use 24, 42, then you can use 22, 44.
can someone please explain?

omg exactlyyyy, subtract 96-94=2
why do you have to subtract other larger numbers? where in the question specifies you cannot subtract 26-24???
