If there is another way, it will be much more complicated than applying "b² - 4ac > 0" concept from the quadratic formula.

Use quadratic formula
b^2 - 4ac > 0
4^2 - 4(K)(5 - K) > 0
16 - 4K (5-K) > 0
16 - 20K + 4K^2 > 0
divide by 4 ==> 4 - 5K + K^2 > 0
equals to K^2 - 5K + 4 > 0
