Clearly, (1,0) has the maximum x-value

We know that point p(a, b) is within the area surrounded by f(x) and we need to find the maximum value of a?
Now, a in p(a,b) is the x-coordinate of the point.
=> We need to find the point which is to the farthest right side on the x-axis which is also in the shaded region shown below:

=> a = 1 as the function touches the x-axis at point (1,0) which is to the farthest right on the x-axis
So, Answer will be D
