A positive number x is decreased by 60%:
\(x*\frac{4}{10} = \frac{4}{10}x\)
This is increased by 80% with the result being y:
\(y = \frac{4}{10}x * \frac{18}{10}\)
\(y = \frac{2}{5}x * \frac{9}{5}\)
\(y = \frac{18}{25}x\)
\(x = \frac{y}{\frac{18}{25}}\)
\(x = y * \frac{25}{18}\)
\(x = \frac{25}{18}y\)
