Theory
➡ Average = Sum of all the Values / Total Number of Values ➡ Sum of All the values = Average * Total Number of Values
The average (arithmetic mean) selling price of 5 houses in a certain neighborhood was $250,000
Sum of price of 5 houses = Average * 5 = $250,000 * 5 = $1,250,000
The average selling price of 3 of the houses was $280,000
Sum of price of 3 houses = Average * 3 = $280,000 * 3 = $840,000
The average selling price of remaining 2 houses
Average = Sum of all the Values / 2 = Sum of price of 5 houses - Sum of price of 3 houses/2 = \(\frac{$1,250,000 - $840,000 }{ 2}\) = \(\frac{$410,000}{2}\) = $205,000
So, Answer will be A. Hope it helps!
