Let x be Shirley's hourly rate.
We have x+\(\frac{45}{60}\)*x+\(\frac{45}{60}\)*2x=48.75
Solve for x, x=15$

Shirley's time = 1 hour 45 min = 7/4 hours
Melinda's time = 3/4 hours
Let the Shirley's hourly rate = x
--> Melinda's hourly rate = 2x
Total earning = 48.75
--> \(\frac{7}{4}*x + \frac{3}{4}*2x = 48.75\)
--> \(\frac{13}{4}*x = 48.75\)
--> \(x = 48.75*\frac{4}{13} = \frac{195}{13} = 15\)
Shirley's hourly rate = x = $15
Melinda's time = 3/4 hours
Let the Shirley's hourly rate = x
--> Melinda's hourly rate = 2x
Total earning = 48.75
--> \(\frac{7}{4}*x + \frac{3}{4}*2x = 48.75\)
--> \(\frac{13}{4}*x = 48.75\)
--> \(x = 48.75*\frac{4}{13} = \frac{195}{13} = 15\)
